IFWJ hails the SC stay on imprisonment of Mid Day journalists

Lucknow, Sep 28 (UNI) Indian Federation of Working Journalists (IFWJ) today hailed the Supreme Court's directive to put stay on the four - month imprisonment to Mid Day journalists in a contempt case.

''IFWJ hails the Apex Court decision today of stay,''IFWJ President K Vikram Rao said here in a statement.

The Mid Day journalists were sentenced for publishing a news against former Chief Justice of India Y K Sabharwal alleging that the sealing orders were passed by him to benefit his sons who were having connections with some shopping mall developers.

The Supreme Court stayed the imprisonment till next hearing on January 16.

UNI
