ICRI ties up with UK-based institutes to introduce PG courses

Mumbai, Sep 28 (UNI) The Institute of Clinical Research India (ICRI) has announced tie-ups with UK-based Institute of Clinical Research Global (ICR) and Cranfield University, to introduce a number of PG courses including masters degrees in Clinical research and management.

Speaking to newspersons, ICRI Chairman S R Duggal said, ''The clinical research industry is global in character with international standards requiring full-fledged infrastructure that cater to global requirements. It takes 100 million dollars to develop a new drug. We are at par with any agency to conduct tests and are the first to offer post-graduation diploma courses.'' He added that 2,000 students have been trained in the last three years since the Institute was established in 2004.

The global clinical research market is worth 40 billion dollars, according to Goldman Sachs and the domestic industry worth 200 million dollars is growing at the rate of 1,000 per cent with an estimated demand for 20,000 professionals by 2010.
