Gram pradhan among 2 booked for providing contaminated food
Lucknow, Sep 28 (UNI) Gram pradhan of Uttampur Bahlolpur village and a shopkeeper were today booked for providing inferior quality food to a school for mid-day meal programme, following which 80 children fell ill yesterday.
Two teachers were also reported to have fallen ill after consuming the contaminated food provided under the mid-day meal programme in a school, at Majhola area of Moradabad district yesterday.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Prem Prakash, nearby 200 children of Uttampur Bahlolpur village had been offered food under the programme. Few of them reportedly vomitted, following which they were admitted to district hospital.
A case had been registered against gram pradhan Karan Singh and the shopkeeper Basheer.
The children have been released from the hospital and food samples were sent for quality test.
