Debter ends life as banks 'harass'
Chennai, Sep 28 (UNI) A multiple bank account holder committed suicide, allegedly due to harassment from private bankers, after he failed to repay the loans.
As the wife of the victim, Gopinath, complained to the police that her husband had taken the extreme step following harassment from the bankers, police took into custody executives of at least three private banks for questioning.
Police said Gopinath had allegedly committed suicide by slashing his wrist and consuming poison at his residence at Villivakkam last evening.
Before ending his life, he had telephoned to the executives of the banks and asked them to visit his home to collect the loans.
They visited his house only to see his dead body, police added.
