Hyderabad, Sep 28 (UNI) Communist Party of India (CPI) Central Secretariat member D Raja said that his party would launch countrywide agitation from October one to ten, against the price rise of essential commodities.

Speaking in a press conference here today, he said the UPA had misreably failed to control the prices of essential commodities, including vegetables, and streamline the Public Distribution System (PDS) in the country.

He said the Government's claim of decline in wholesale prices had no impact on consumer price index. He alleged that government had not taken any steps to procure foodgrains and was importing wheat as the production had fallen in the country, he added.

He said the Left parites were totally opposing FDI in the retail sector as it would completely affect the interests of the retail traders and the country's economy.

He demanded that future trading system should be scrapped and Government should go for procurement of large scale agriculture produce from the farmers by providing Minimum Support Price for them.

He said that the UPA should not allow the MNCs to enter into the retail sector, as it would affect the livelihood of crores of people.
