Bankers for coordinated efforts for improved credit flow

Panaji, Sept 28 (UNI) The state level bankers committee has today favoured a coordinated approach for improved credit flow to the farm sector.

The committee which met here today also, noted that the agriculture credit in Goa had risen from Rs 62 crores in 2003-04 to Rs 118 crores in the last fiscal accounting for 95 per cent rise as against the Centre's recommendation for doubling it during the three year period.

Inaugurating the bankers committee meet, chief general manager of the SBI, Mumbai, Mr Narayan Raju, urged the bankers to explore all avenues to increase the credit take off at all levels through proper monitoring and publicity of various schemes underway.

Prominent among those present included acting chief secretary Anand Prakash who urged the bankers for focusing their attention on medical, farm and eco-tourism sectors for credit outflow.
