New Delhi, Sept 28 (UNI) In the third robbery this week in East Delhi, armed men assaulted a family in Vivek Vihar area and fled with cash and valuables worth nearly Rs 50,000 early today, witnesses said.

While four of the six armed men 'raided' the first floor residence of Durgaprasad Dubey in Jwala Nagar area of Vivek Vihar, two other stood guard at the gate, and decamped with Rs 50,000 worth cash and jewellery.

''Four men in black clothes, with faces covered, barged into the room at about 0200 hrs and after threatening to shoot my daughter took the keys of the cupboard and fled with the booty.'' They locked the door from outside, disconnected the phone line and took the mobile phone before leaving, said Mr Dubey.

''They also hit my wife on the head with a 'lathi','' he said.

Later, labourers sleeping on the ground floor came and opened the door after which the police was informed, he added.

Early this week, two armed robberies took place in closeby Krishna Nagar in the same district.

While rupees 90,000 worth cash and jewellery were robbed in the first case, in the second incident Rs 35,000 worth valuables were taken away.
