Women manage auto stand in Kochi

Kochi, Sep 27, 2007: In the latest instance of empowerment, women in Kochi city are managing and running an exclusive all-women auto stand. In a small village called Thrikkakkra, nearly a dozen women have taken on the task of running auto rickshaws and providing transportation to locals.

The council is working in conjunction with a self-help group for women called the Kudubashree. Their aim is to create more opportunities and uplift the status of women in the society, particularly in their own village.
