Ten Bangladeshi fishermen taken to custody

Balasore, Sep 27 (UNI) The Bhograi police have taken ten Bangladeshi fishermen into custody after they were traced near Talseri jetty on Tuesday without any valid documents.

Police said the Bangladeshi fishermen were the crew members of a vessel called ' Riaz'which had set out on fishing on September 18 last along with other three vessels from Bangladesh.

While one vessel with 11 fishermen on board was traced near Chandipur,the fate of other two vessels was yet to be ascertained.

They were caught in the deep sea water during a depression in the Bay of Bengal.

The fishermen were identified as Md Hassan, Md Rahim, Md Usman Sarif, Jahangir Hauladwar, Rahid Khan, Md Armaj, Md Hassan Soni, Kamrul Talukdar, Dulal Talukdar and Innuz Mohaamad .

Jaleswar Circle Inspector S R Mohapatra when contacted said the Bangladeshi fishermen were taken into custody under Section 14 of the Foreign National Act since they did not possess any valid travelling documents.

Police had intimated the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for further verification and deportation, Mr Mohapatra said.
