Punjab enforces ban on 'Janmat TV Channel'

Chandigarh, Sept 27 (UNI) The Punjab Government has directed all the Deputy Commissioners of the state to ensure 'Janmat TV Channel to remain off air and was not carried by cable and DTH operation in their respective districts.

The directive comes in wake of the Central government banning the transmission/retransmission of this channel from all platforms with effect from 20.9.2007 and upto 20.10.2007 throughout the country, because of its admittedly doctored sting operation on a teacher of Sarvodya Kanya Vidyalya in Darya Ganj, Delhi.

The sting operation was defamatory, deliberate, false and suggestive innuendos and half truths, incited violence and disrupted law and order situation all over, said a spokesman of the state government.
