Pondy to channel funds from other depts into Tourism

Puducherry, Sep 27 (UNI) The Puducherry administration will divert all excess funds from other departments to the Tourism Department to leverage speedy development in the sector, Chief Minister N Rangasamy said tonight.

Presiding over the 'World tourism Day-2007' celebrations here Mr Rangasamy announced various tourism development projects-- setting up of a craft village, beautification of Puducherry Beach at a cost of Rs 15 crore, water theme park at Ariyankuppam and a five-star hotel at Murungambakkam.

Tourism Minister Malladi Krishna Rao said all projects in the sector were progressing smoothly and the Department had sought an additional allocation of Rs five crore.
