Nine die in road accident in North Dinajpur

Jalpaiguri, Sep 27 (UNI) Nine people, including three children, died when the car they were travelling in collided with a truck on NH-34 at Gunjaria of Islampur in North Dinajpur district early today.

Police said the accident occurred when the car, carrying school children and gaurdians, lost control and dashed with a truck standing idle on the roadside.

Three Alami Mission School students, who were returning to Coochbehar after the Ramadan vacation, died on the spot along with four gaurdians. more people, including the driver of the car died at the Islampur Government Hospital where they had been taken for treatment, police have confirmed.

The remaining four people were in critical condition, hospital authoirities have informed.
