Five pilgrims feared drowned in river Cauvery

Tiruchirapalli, Sep 27 (UNI) At least five pilgrims were feared drowned in river Cauvery when they went to fetch water for the sacred washing of the tomb (Thurbath Thulai and Moulooth-e-Shraf) here late last night.

Police said the accident occurred when the pilgrims were fetching holy water in connection with the 1010th Santhanakoodu festival (urs) of Hazrat Sultan Syed Baba-e-Nathhar Sarmasth Thable Alam Badhusha, scheduled to be held today.

Two bodies have been recovered. While one person was identified as Abdul Malik (21), the other from Bangalore was yet to be identified.
