Elephant runs amok, disrupts traffic for 3 hours

Kochi, Sep 27 (UNI) Traffic on NH 47 here was disrupted for almost three hours as an elephant brought for a ceremonial welcome at a function ran amok here this morning.

The mahout jumped off the pachyderm as it charged towards the people around.

However, Kerala Governor R L Bhatia and other dignitaries, attending the function, were safe inside the venue when the incident took place.

After a high-drama lasting for almost three hours, the mahouts were able to bring the elephant under control.

Later, the Governor and his entourage were escorted safely out of the venue.
