Jammu, Sep 27 (UNI) Taking great exception to Jammu and Kashmir government's statement that displacement of Kashmiri Hindus was 'voluntary', Panun Kashmir Chairman Ajay Chrungoo today flayed the alleged remark terming it ''insulting''.

Addressing a press conference here, he said, ''The state government has described the dislocation of Kashmiri Hindus as voluntary, which is 'shocking'.'' He said the displacement of Kashmiri Pandits was, in fact, a result of ''religious cleansing'' operations by a large section of the state administration and political establishments.

''Even Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had described displaced Kashmiri Hindus as 'bedakhal kiye huye log' and called them victims of ethnic cleansing,'' the Chairman noted.

''Panun Kashmir believes that what has happened to Kashmiri Hindus has been a crime against humanity and the state government by describing the displacement of Hindus in the state 'voluntary' has only confessed to its culpability,'' Dr Chungroo added.
