Delhi Govt to bear treatment expenses of poet Trilochan Shastri: CM

New Delhi, Sep 27 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said her Government and Hindi Academy would bear all expenses of treatment of ailing veteran Hindi Poet Trilochan Shastri, who was yesterday admitted to a local hospital at Vaishali near here.

An employee of Hindi Academy has been deputed at the hospital to facilitate treatment, Mrs Dikshit said.

90 year old Mr Shastri, awarded the Shalaka Samman of Hindi Academy in 1989-90 as well as other prestigious awards, is gripped with illness for a long time and has lost his memory.

The Hindi Academy, under the Delhi Government, had earlier provided an amount of Rs 25,000 to Mr Shastri.

Mrs Dikshit had visited residence of Mr Shastri at Vaishali a few days ago to enquire about his health and had assured that her government would take care of medical examination and treatment of Mr Shastri in a hospital and provide him an attendant.
