Congress MP Krishna Tirath's car fired at; occupants safe

New Delhi, Sep 26 (UNI) The car of Congress MP Krishna Tirath was today fired at by some unknown assailants in Karol Bagh area of the city this evening, police said.

Ms Tirath, MP from Karol Bagh, was on her way to Budha Nagar in Inder Puri to attend a 'jagran' ceremony, they said.

''The attack was made near Link Road, but I did not stop the vehicle and only did so when I reached my constituency and later informed the police,'' Ms Tirath said.

The incident took place at around 2015 hrs and a hole was noticed in the vehicle, she said adding that a van was following her for some time.

''However, I did not see anyone,'' she said.

The Congress leader was accompained by her husband Vijay Kumar and personal security officer. All of them are safe.

''I have been in politics for the last 25 years and have no enemies and I do not suspect anyone,'' she said.

Delhi Police spokesman Rajendra Bhagat said an FIR has been filed at the Mandir Marg police station and investigations were on to nab the culprits.

It was not yet known how many rounds were fired at the MP's vehicle, police said.
