Body exhumed after 9 months to know cause of death

Jalandhar, Sep 27 (UNI) To ascertain the facts of death of a Christian man, the district administration today exhumed his body, burried nearly nine months back, from Ladhewali cemetery here.

On the petition of the deceased's sister, Suman Sohanta, the High Court ordered to exhume the body of George Mathew (45). Mathew was residing alone in Kaki Pind and had died on December 29 last year.

In the petition, the sister of the deceased had suspected some foul play behind his death.

The body was exhumed by the police in presence of SDM Bhupinder Singh. The police later sent the body to civil hospital for a post morterm.

A four-member board of doctors led by pathologist Dr Davinder Singh conducted the post-morterm this evening, Medical Superintendent Dr Ranbir Singh said adding that to know the exact cause of Mathew's death, his viscera was sent to Forensic Laboratory at Patiala for chemical analysis and his heart to Medical College in Amritsar for histopathology.

After conducting the post morterm, the body was again handed over to his relatives for reburrying.
