Theatre movement to get govt support: Buddhadev
Kolkata, Sep 26 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee today said the government has moral responsibility to build group theatre movement.
"We have to accept those drama group, who would play the live and true drama and it will help to move our conciousness and this is our government's policy," Mr Bhattacharjee said in the 20th anniversary of the Natya Academy here.
"All the drama group of the state has important role in our cultural society and we want the movement of drama to move forward.
This is our government's wish," the Chief Minister said.
Later, West Bengal Natya Academy was conferred on five theatre personalities including Mr Khaled Chowdhury, Mrs Sobha Sen, Mr Mohit Chatterjee, Mrs Gita Dey and Mr Shyamal Ghosh.
Chief Guest and noted film maker Mrinal Sen and Natya Academy president Kumar Roy also spoke on the occasion.
