Six die, three injured in house collapse in Bihar

Patna, Sep 26 (UNI) At least six people, including three women, were killed and three injured in two separate incidents of house collapse in heavy rains in Samastipur and Darbhanga districts of north Bihar early today.

Official reports here said both the incidents occurred at around 0400 hours this morning in the midst of heavy downpour when the victims were asleep at Mahamada village in Samastipur district and at Raiyyam village in the neighbouring Darbhanga district.

At Mahamada five villagers, including three women of a family, and a child were killed when their adjoining mud houses collapsed following nightlong heavy showers. The other victim was a 60-year old person.

Similarly, at Raiyyam, one person was killed and three were injured when their ''kuccha'' houses suddenly caved-in in the midst of heavy downpour which had been continuing in the district for the past two days.

While the injured were sent to Darbhanga government hospital, the bodies had been sent for post-mortem to the district headquarters at Samastipur.
