Panchayat Councillor brutally murdered

Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, Sep 26 (UNI) In a daring daylight crime, a 45-year-old Councillor of Udhayathur Village Panchayat here was today hacked to death over old enmity.

Police said the deceased, K Perumal, who was working as a watchman with a private windmill, was attacked with sickles by his neighbour V Perumal and his son P Muthukumar.

An unidentified person, who rushed to the rescue of the Councillor, was also attacked by the duo, resulting in serious cut injuries to the man. He was admitted to the Government Hospital here.

Police later arrested the culprits.
