National seminar on use of fertilisers gets underway

Bhopal, Sep 26 (UNI) A four-day national seminar on 'Standards and technology of value added/ fortified/ customised fertilisers as a source of plant nutrients' got underway at the Indian Institute of Soil Science premises here today.

The seminar has been organised by the Department of Agriculture and Cooperation (DOAC) of the Centre and New Delhi-based Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).

Besides, a workshop on 'Soil test crop response correlation' has been also organised, an official release said here today.

The seminar and workshop were inaugurated by Central Fertiliser Quality Control&Training Institute's Ex-Director Dr N Tripathi, who was chief guest at the function.

Dr Twatia, Chief (Agricultural Sciences), Fertiliser Association of India (FAI), New Delhi, has been the guest of honour.

Dr M M Pandey, Director, Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Bhopal, and Dr G Chakrobarty, Deputy Commissioner, DOAC, New Delhi, were special guests on the occasion.

About 200 scientists from various organisations such as CIAE, HSADL, MPCOST and IFFCOO from about 16 states are participating in the seminar.

Various aspects like concepts, their need, industrial experience, quality regulatory mechanisms and response of crops and cropping systems to these aspects would be discussed during the national seminar, the release added.
