Tiruchirapalli, Sep 26 (UNI) Latin American countries like Argentina and Brazil were planning to purchase of used and serviced locomotives (broad guage) from India.
Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES), Expotech Division, General Manager Amitabh Sinha told newspersons on the sidelines of a function in which 99 and 100 of metre guage diesel locos to Mozambique here today that already negotiations were on in this regard.
He said the RITES was a nodal agency looking after the Indian Railways export ventures and they have already started supplying of passenger coaches and locomotives to about 10 Afro-Asian countries namely Sudan, Mozambique, Mali, Senegal, Myanmar, Tanzania, Bangladesh and Malaysia. There was an increase in demand from these countries for locomotives.
He said efforts were on to export 23 metre gauge passenger coaches to Tanzania for the next year.
He said the RITES was looking out for a huge market abroad for Indian Railways.
