BJP demands transfer of Bellary district SP

Bangalore, Sep 26 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party Karnataka unit President Sadanand Gowda urged the State Election Commission to transfer Bellary District Superintendent of Police in connection with an incident of shooting of Tourism Minister B Sriramulu during an election campaign for urban local body yesterday.

In a press note, Mr Gowda said here today that it was difficult to hold elections scheduled for September 28 following this incident.

The state, which was known for law and order, is now joining the other states which witness violence during the elections, he said.

The people of the district have expressed their fear that the present police officials in the district may not work up to their expectations in conducting of smooth polls, he added.
