New Delhi, Sept 26 (UNI) Industry chamber ASSOCHAM has urged Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati to order re-opening of Reliance Fresh retail stores in the state and also requested Reliance Industries Ltd Chairman Mukesh Ambani not to act in haste and exit from the state as it would have wider repercussions, adversely hitting interests of consumers and farmers.

In a statement issued here, ASSOCHAM spokesman said Mayawati government should withdraw its earlier order closing down Reliance-owned retail stores, otherwise the decision will be seen and interpreted as a clear case of selective victimsation and will also affect future investment inflows.

Therefore, it is in the interest of state and its consumers that orders are issued for re-opening up of stores, otherwise the issue will be 'politicised'.

The chamber has also urged Mr Ambani not to act in a hurry and walk out of UP and hoped that a good sense will prevail and things will be settled amicably.
