Lankan national with fake visa arrested in Chennai airport

Chennai, Sep 25 (UNI) A 23-year-old Sri Lankan national was arrested at the International airport here early today when he attempted to travel to Colombo, using a fake visa.

Airport sources said Gajeeran Kandasamy, hailing from West Vellannai in Jaffna, had come to Chennai on a tourist visa three months ago.

Since his visa had expired on September 4, he managed to get a fake visa through an agent and came to the airport to board the Chennai-Colombo Jetlite flight at 0000 hrs.

On verification of his documents, immigration authorities found that the visa was fake and detained him.

He was later handed over to the airport police, who registered a case and arrested him.
