New Delhi, Sep 25 (UNI) Heavy clouds and cool winds today brought coolness to Delhi, plumetting mercury by several degrees and bringing Delhiites tremendous relief from hot and humid weather over the last week.

After a bright sunlit sky over nearly the whole of last week, a heavily overcast sky welcomes Delhiites this morning. The clouds, together with cool North Westernly winds, plummeted the maximum temperature during the day to 30.7 Degree Celsius, three degrees below normal.

And, even though the minimum temperature was recorded at 25.5 Degree Celsius, two degrees above normal, it was a cool day for Delhiites, after the hot and humid weather last week.

Weathermen attribute the turnaround in the weather in Delhi to the influence of a low pressure area over East Uttar Pradesh and neighbourhood.

Under its influence, they have forecast rain and thundershowers over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir over the next three to four days.

The met office has forecast a generally cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers.
