Court denies anticipatory bail plea of Jagir Kaur

Rupnagar, Sep 25 (UNI) A local court today dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of former SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur in connection with flagrant defiance of a non-bailable warrant issued against her by Anandpur Sahib Sub-divisional Judicial Magistrate Jatinder Kaur.

The court passed the orders after hearing the arguments of the Public Prosecutor on the anticipatory bail application filed by the Bibi a few days ago.

The defence counsel had argued that the SGPC president could not appear in the Anandpur Sahib court on the date of hearing of the case against her unintentionally as she had noted down wrong dates of hearing.

Anandpur Sahib Sub-divisional Judicial Magistrate had issued the warrant for the Bibi for her failure to appear in the court in connection with the case registered against her and 11 other Akali leaders for violating the prohibitory orders.
