TN CM condemns attack on DMK activists in Maharashtra

Chennai, Sep 23 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today condemned the attack on the DMK activists by the BJP and RSS cadres at 'Sion' in 'Dharavi' in Maharashtra when they were organising a meeting to press for the implementation of the Sethusamudram Shipping Channel Project(SSCP).

A release from the Secretariat said the partymen were seriously injured when a group of BJP and RSS volunteers launched a severe attack on them. They also ransacked the DMK office at Dharavi.

The activists were admitted to a hospital. They were identified as Appadurai, Kumana Rasan and Rajendran, among others.

Mr Karunanidhi urged the Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilas Rao Deshmukh to take stringent action against the wrong-doers and to provide adequate security to party activists and to the party office, especially to the Tamils.

Mr Deshumukh had assured that he would take necessary steps to nab the culprits, the release added.
