Thirunavukkarasar denies Baalu's claim on Sethu alignment

Chennai, Sep 24 (UNI) Former union shipping minister in the erstwhile NDA government and senior BJP leader S Thirunavukkarasar today clarified that 'alignment 4' for the Sethusamudram project was not approved by him during his brief tenure as claimed by Union Shipping and Highways Minister T R Baalu.

''I was holding the shipping portfolio for just six months, he pointed out, addressing a press conference here along with BJP's Tamil Nadu unit president L Ganesan to condemn yesterday's attack on the party office by DMK partymen.

He also sought to clarify that during his tenure, the alignment of the project was not stated at all.

Only the environmental aspects of the project were being discussed with National Environmental Engineering Research Institute(NEERI), he said.
