Road repairs started, new roads coming up in Manipur

Imphal, Sep 24 (UNI) The Manipur Public Works Department (PWD) has started repairing the damaged roads and is planning to construct a new road in the state.

The state PWD Minister said here yesterday that a new road from Tupul at Tamenglong district will be constructed up to Thoubal district with the assistance of Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The road, with a length of about 125 km, will be constructed at a cost of about Rs 200 crores.

Most of the roads in the state, including National Highways 39 and 53, were in very bad condition.

The minister said once the rainy season ended, work would be taken up and assured that it would be completed before the next rainy season.
