Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Sep 24 (UNI) Well known Bollywood filmmaker N Chandra has taken over as director of the newly established city degree college of networking and multimedia.

The college will conduct modern day multimedia courses, including print, sound, graphics and animation, photography and special effect techniques.

Speaking to reporters here today, Dr Nagnath Kotapalle, Vice Chancellor of Dr Bahasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU), said the university had decided not to permit traditional degree colleges in the four districts of Marathwada under its jurisdiction.

It was for promoting job oriented courses, he said.

The Vice Chancellor appreciated N Chandra, producer and director of many Bollywood blockbusters, for joining the Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institution's College of Networking and Multimedia. His presence as the director would make the difference and provide better avenues to the region's youths to compete in the world, the VC said.

N Chandra pointed out that about 90 per cent of the people in the film industry had learnt from experiences, in the absence of training institutions. Institutions like the networking and multimedia would help the industry as well as the youths in a big way.

He said he felt attached to the Marathwada region, where he had a number of friends. He also made it clear that at the age of 52 he did not want to pursue another career. But he had sincerely wanted to impart whatever he had learnt in the past 35 years through his experience.

Tukaram Panchal, who heads the college management, promised that no compromise would be made in the quality of education and that he would provide entire infrastructure, needed by N Chandra, to start the job oriented courses.
