Traditional boat race festival celebrated in Manipur

Imphal, Sep 23 (UNI) People offered prayers at the Lord Bijoygovinda temple in Manipur today to mark the Hiyang Tannaba (Boat race festival).

The main race kicked-off this morning at Thangapat, Sagolband and here, where hundreds of people witnessed the spectacular boat race.

The idol of Lord Bijoygovinda was brought to a special platform near the venue of the race. Two teams, dressed in traditional dress participated in today's festival.
