Passengers of Jet plane have narrow escape in Kashmir

Srinagar, Sep 23 (UNI) Passengers of a Jet Airways plane had a narrow escape when it skidded off the runway at Srinagar Airport this afternoon.

Official sources said the plane carrying more than 100 passengers from Delhi skidded off the runway immediately after landing at the airport and went into a nearby open field.

They said emergency was declared and all the passengers were taken out of the plane safely.

No one was injured, but the passengers were still in shock, sources at the airport said.

He said majority of the passengers later left for their destination.

The plane was pulled out from the field on to the runway with the help of a tractor.

It was not immediately known why the plane skidded off the runway, they said.

However, the plane could not take off from here because of some technical snag, they said adding the engineers will examine the plane before allowing it to fly back to Delhi.
