Haryana to be first state to telecast assembly proceedings

Chandigarh, Sep 23 (UNI) Haryana Vidhan Sabha will be the first assembly of the country to start live telecast of the entire proceedings of the house from the next session.

This was stated by Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Dr Raghuvir Singh Kadian while addressing a press conference at Chandigarh Press Club here today.

Dr Kadian said that with the telecast of the House proceedings of Vidhan Sabha, people would come to know about the performances of their elected representatives.

He informed that the Haryana Government would spend a sum of Rs six crore on the renovation of its Vidhan Sabha Secretariat.

He also said that laptop had been made available to every representative of the Vidhan Sabha and regular training programme had been conducted for its legislators.

On being asked about the challenges before a speaker of Vidhan Sabha, Dr Kadian said , ''The post of speaker, which is a constitutional post, is quite a tough job to perform in terms of satisfying all the members of the Assembly.'' He said that it was always his effort to satisfy all the members as well as to maintain the democratic norms while conducting the proceedings of the House.

Dr Kadian appreciated the contribution made by the Chandigarh Press Club in the field of Journalism. He said that this club is one of the renowned press clubs of the country and announced Rs three lakh for the club from his discretionary quota.
