J'khand bar council advocates formation of additional benches

Ranchi, Sep 22 (UNI) Acting Chairman of Jharkhand state Bar Council today said they would apprise Jharkhand High Court Chief Justice of their demands including creation of additional benches for quick disposal of cases.

Talking to reporters here council's acting chairman S N Roy said that more than 50,000 cases were pending in the HC and creation of additional benches was necessary for disposal of pending cases.

Mr Roy said the High Court should also increase the time of limit for appeal in criminal or civil cases from 21 days to six months.

''At present we get only 21 days to file an appeal before the high court.But this is not sufficient,'' he added.

Their six point demands also included providing place for the bar council at the HC premises.
