UP SC/ST Commission member accused of rape

Muzaffarnagar, Sep 21 (UNI) A court today ordered filing of a case against three persons, including a member of the Uttar Pradesh SC/ST Commission, for allegedly raping a girl on promise of job.

The accused SC/ST Commission member, Premchandra Gautam, holds the status of a minister of state in UP, sources said here today.

On October 25, 2006, Gautam and his relative Rajkumar raped a woman in a hotel room.

According to the victim, she was coaxed to the hotel by Rajkumar's wife Shama Parveen on the pretext of providing her a job.

Later, the trio issued life threats to her, in case she disclosed the crime.

On August 28, the woman approached the police for registering an FIR in the case.

However, when the police refused to file a case, she moved the court of additional chief judicial magistrate Sumit Chandra on August 31, who ordered that a case be registered against the three accused.
