Two killed, nine injured in a road accident in Bilaspur

Shimla, Sep 21 (UNI) Two persons were killed and nine others were injured in a road accident involving a Tata Sumo and a scooter near Bairi village of the Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh today.

An official spokesman said that the Tata Sumo was on its way from Chandigarh to Manikaran, when it slipped into a deep gorge while giving pass to a scooter coming from the opposite direction.

There were nine persons in the Tata Sumo. Seven of them have been admitted to the hospitals at Panjgain, Bilaspur and PGI, Chandigarh with multiple injuries.

Both the persons riding scooter have also been shifted to the PGI, Chandigarh for treatment with serious injuries.

He said that a case had been registered with the Barmana police station and further investigations into the accident were on.

The dead have been identified as Buta Singh (65) and Anuk Singh (55) of Ghunpur village of the Gurdaspur district of Punjab.
