New Raj Police Act paves way for set of Police Commission

Jaipur, Sep 21 (UNI) THe new Rajasthan Police Act 2007 passed by the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly by a voice vote without discussion today, paved way for the constitution of the Rajasthan Police Commission and Rajasthan Police Board.

As per section 21 of the new act, the state government would constitute the state police commission headed by the state Home Minister.

Leader of the Opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly, Chief Secretary, Home Secretary and Police Director General and three non government persons would be inducted as members in the commission which would ensure enhancement in the efficiancy, capability and accountability of the state police force.

According to Section 28 of the act, the state police board would be headed by the Director General of Police with induction of four officers of the rank of deputy inspector general as its members.

The decision on the constitution of the commission and the board would be taken in due course of time.
