Love birds elope, boy's mother set ablaze

Lucknow, Sep 21 (UNI) A middle-aged woman was immolated to death by the family members of a girl, who had allegedly eloped with her son in Sirsaganj area of Ferozabad district recently.

State principal secretary home J N Chamber told newspersons here this evening, that on September 17, the son of Rajadhar in Krishnanagar locality had eloped with a girl living in his neighbour.

Later, the girl's family members took the boy's mother Jeevanshri and sister-in-law Anita hostage, while they tried to locate the couple.

However, when they failed to find them for two day, the girl's father Rajvir Yadav and his three relatives immolated Jeevanshri last evening.

She was taken to Agra medical college for treatment, but succumbed late last night.

However, before dying she had named four persons in the case.

The accused were absconding and raids were being made to arrest them, Mr Chamber informed.
