Kit for early detection of Chikungunya, Dengue fever
New Delhi, Sep 21 (UNI) Chikungunya, which has assumed the form of pestilence in parts of Kerala and few other states, can now be detected even before its symptoms manifest in a patient.
The Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology has developed an ultrasensitive diagnostic kit that is capable of detecting Chikungunya and Dengue fever within three days of infection, even before the symptoms manifest, Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal told a press conference here today.
At present, the available diagnostic kit can detect the diseases within seven days of infection and that too after the symptoms have manifested, Mr Sibal said.
