Anonymous letter 'names' culprits of twin blasts

Hyderabad, Sep 21 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police A K Mahanty has received an anonymous letter, ''revealing'' the identity of the masterminds behind the August 25 twin blasts here and informing that the schemers were planning to strike at six places here during the Ganesh idol immersion ceremony later this month.

Police said the letter, which kept the police on tenterhooks, named the father-son duo Jakir and Jahed, as the main conspirators of the blasts, which claimed more than 40 lives. It even provided the car and telephone numbers ''being used'' by the duo.

The letter claimed that the two had connections with the international terrorist organisation 'HUJI' and had received Rs 50 lakhs from terrorist outfits. A case was registered against Jahed under the Arms Act in Santoshnagar police station in the city.

Not taking any chance, the police have started investigating the veracity of the letter.
