Bangalore, Sep 21 (UNI) Low cost airliner Air Deccan today announced linking of Bangalore with Vijayawada from October 29 by deploying an ATR aircraft.
Air Deccan Executive Chairman Capt G R Gopinath, in a release here said the link to Vijayawada, an important economic centre in the region, would offer a viable travel option to small and medium enterprises, who currently travel either by road or rail between the two cities with the time being taken around 16 hours.
''Air connectivity is a key infrastructure for the development of industry and commerce in cities like Vijayawada, a prominent hub for automobile, garmets, iron and hardware industries.'' Air Deccan was the first carrier to bring air connectivity to Vijayawada and the airline would continue to scale up its connectivity from Vijayawada, he added.
According to the schedule announced the flight (DN211) to be operated on all days, except Sunday, would leave Bangalore at 1020 hrs and reach Vijayawada at 1200 hrs. The return flight (DN 212) would take off from Vijayawada at 1220 hrs and reach Bangalore at 1400 hrs.
The schedule was subject to the approval by relevant government authorities. Fares begin at Rs 500 (plus taxes and surcharge) and bookings have open, the release added.
