MDU announces cultural schedule for session 2007-08

Chandigarh, Sep 20 (UNI) Maharishi Dayanand University (MDU) Rohtak has announced the schedule of cultural and literary activities for the session 2007-2008.

A University spokesperson informed that as per the calender of events, in October, the university will organise a Zonal Youth Festival, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, a Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti function, UN Day (Oct 24) celebrations and Folk Festival from October 28 to 31.

Inter Zonal Youth Festival and Haryana Day (Nov 1) celebrations will be organised during November.

In December, MDU cultural team will take part in Association of Indian Universities (A I U) National Youth Festival. Further, Sham-E-Qawwali programme will be held on the eve of New Year.

During January 2008, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti (Jan 23) function will be organised as also patriotic theme based debate and poetry contest. Republic Day celebrations and Freedom Fighters Honour Ceremony will also be organised in this month.

Cultural Bonanza Programme, Vasant Mahotsav and Phalgun Mahotsav Function(s) will be held in February.

In March, the university will organise Holi Milan Kavi Sammelan Programme, Women's Day function, World Theatre Day programme and Techno-Management Festival.

In April, preparations for various adventurous activities will be held. During May and June, various camps and adventure sports activities will be organised.

All these literary, cultural and adventure sports activities will be conducted under the aegis of Students' and Youth Welfare Office of the university, the spokesperson said.
