Krishnapatnam UMPP to be awarded in two months: Razdan

New Delhi, Sept 20 (UNI) The government today said the first stage of bidding for imported coal-based Krishnapatnam ultra mega power project (UMPP) in Andhra Pradesh will be completed in a month or two.

Power Finance Corporation (PFC) had earlier extended the deadline for submitting the price bids for Krishnapatnam project to September 21.

''The request for qualification (RFQ) for Tilaiya UMPP in Jharkhand has been amended and offers will be reinvited for the project,'' Power Secretary Anil Razdan told reporters an the sidelines of a conference.

The government has initiated the process of building 4,000 MW UMPPs under the public-private-partnership umbrella to plug the country's ever-increasing energy deficit.

Two projects of 4,000 MW each have already been taken up by Tata Power in Mundra in Gujarat and Reliance Power in Sasan, Madhya Pradesh.
