J&K Govt launches BPL survey

Jammu, Sep 20 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir government today launched a Below Poverty Line (BPL) survey, which would also provide information about the number of educated unemployed people seeking jobs.

The survey is designed to cover all the 22 districts of the state for identification of the people living below the poverty line, official sources said.

Economics and Statistics Director G A Qureshi has instructed all the District Statistical and Evaluation Officers (DSEOs) to complete the BPL survey in their respective districts within 20 days.

Field operation of the BPL survey will be closely monitored by the Regional Joint Director, Jammu.

The District Development Commissioners have also been requested to extend their valuable guidance and cooperation to the respective DSEO for timely completion of the survey.

Besides Sarpanchs, Numbardars and Chowkidars, the government has also appealed to the general masses to come forward and provide accurate and correct information required for setting up appropriate policies for the eradication of unemployment from the state.
