Ranchi, Sep 20 (UNI) The Jharkhand High Court today gave the state government a week more to file progress report on the proposed introduction of city bus services here.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Muthuswamy Karpagyavinayagam and Justice Amreshwar Sahay passed the order after hearing a PIL filed by one Janak Kumar Mishra.

The petitioner's lawyer Sanjeev Kumar Mishra filed an affidavit stating that four more routes could be used for city buses in addition to the state government's earlier submission of eight routes for the project.

The state government did not file its progress report as per the court's order earlier.

The government today pleaded for some time to file its report.

Earlier, the state government had pleaded before the court to grant permission for completing the process of introducing city bus in the capital.

Mr Mishra pointed out that in the last hearing the government had assured the court that it would introduce the service on November 15. He also alleged that till date nothing had been done in this regard.

Presently, autoricksaws are the main means of transport, which had increased alarmingly leading to heavy pollution and congestion.
