Benetton opens largest megastore in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, Sep 20 (UNI) Benetton India, the manufacturer of men, women and children wear and other accessories under the brand United Colours of Benetton, today opened its largest flagship store here under its major expansion programme in the country .

Mr Alessandro Benetton, Executive Deputy Chairman, Benetton Group after inaugurating the store, told the mediapersons that the four-storey flagship store having more that 1100 sqft area in the City Beautiful, strengthens Benetton's presence in the Indian market which is fifth largest after the Europe.

Mr Benetton said the company had initiated a plan to further strengthen the retail network in the country and 30 more stores would be opened by the year-end taking the total numbers of stores to 170.

The company did a total business of Rs 125 crore in 2006 and likely to cross Rs 225 mark this year, he added .

He said the company had employed about 300 designers at its Head Office in Italy who are designing the outfits as per the global trends.
