TWARO executive committee meeting in Pondy from Sept 26

Puducherry, Sep 19 (UNI) The 52nd executive committee meeting of the Textile Workers Asian Regional Organisation (TWARO) will be held here on September 26 and 27 to discuss industrial development in various countries and the status of trade unions there.

Addressing a press conference here today, Indian National Garment and Leather Workers Federation (INGLWF) Vice-President and Puducherry Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) President G Ravichandran said Chief Minister N Rangasamy would inaugurate the meeting, to be sponsored by the INTUC.

TWARO President Shimda, Federation General Secretary Neil Kearney, Secretary Akiko Gono and Multinational Project Coordinator Doug Miller, among others, would also participate.

Puducherry Industries Minister V Vaithilingam and Tourism Minister Malladi Krishna Rao would take part in the second day's programme, he said, adding that delegates from 12 countries, including China, Japan, Australia, Sri Lanka and Mongolia would attened the meeting, to be held for the first time in the Union Territory.

Mr Ravichandran said the South Asian Women's Conference would be held here as a prelude to the executive committee meeting for three days from September 22 and on September 21, INTUC women's study circle leaders meeting would be held.
