Cuddalore, Sep 19 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry Bar Council today condemned the district police for registering cases against 49 lawyers after their stand - off with the State Transport Corporation employees.

Addressing the lawyers here, who were boycotting the courts in Villupuram and Cuddalore districts, Bar Council President R K Chandramohan warned that the lawyers would intensify their stir, if police did not withdraw the cases immediately.

He said the lawyers would meet Madras High Court Chief Justice on September 21 in Chennai and draw the future course of action.

He said if the police did not withdraw the cases, they would fight it out in courts and would not approach the police with a begging bowl. ''We will face the case, if police did not budge'', he said.

Mr Chandramohan said the boycott would continue till the issue was resolved.
